{"id":5798,"date":"2023-06-20T18:36:58","date_gmt":"2023-06-20T22:36:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sikaoer.com\/binance-starts-running-bitcoin-lightning-network-nodes\/"},"modified":"2023-06-20T18:36:58","modified_gmt":"2023-06-20T22:36:58","slug":"binance-starts-running-bitcoin-lightning-network-nodes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sikaoer.com\/binance-starts-running-bitcoin-lightning-network-nodes\/","title":{"rendered":"Binance Starts Running Bitcoin Lightning Network Nodes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <br \/>\n<br \/><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Following through on its promise in May, crypto exchange giant Binance confirmed on Tuesday that it has begun running multiple nodes on Bitcoin\u2019s lightning network.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The exchange plans to leverage the layer-2 scaling solution to enable cheaper Bitcoin (BTC) deposits and withdrawals on its platform.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Binance resolved to integrate lightning after an explosion in memecoin \/ Ordinals popularity on Bitcoin in May, which triggered major blockchain congestion and drove up transaction fees by over 1000%.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The event <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">interfered<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> with exchanges like Binance attempting to satisfy users\u2019 deposit and withdrawal requests, prompting the exchange to briefly suspend BTC withdrawals on May 7.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">In response, the firm increased the transaction fee it attached to Bitcoin withdrawals (to ensure they\u2019d be processed faster by miners) and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">assured<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> followers that lightning network withdrawals were in the works.\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">To prevent a similar recurrence in the future, our fees have been adjusted. We\u2019ll update once Lightning is fully integrated.\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Lightning nodes allow Bitcoin users to instantly transfer funds among themselves using network channels, at virtually no cost.
